The Swift Escape 696 6 Berth has been described as a “smart, spacious, good to drive and well designed” motorhome.
Being both stylish and well-equipped, this motorhome has become the perfect choice for families all across the UK. The Swift Escape launched in 2009 and has moved from strength to strength in the past 8 years. It is bespoke in nature and keeps the Swifts core values to meet customers high depends.
On the road
The big question is how does the Escape handle on the open road. With its new generation of Fiat X290 on its base vehicle and a Euro 5 2.3-litre 130bhp engine, the Escape packs a punch, especially with its standard six-speed manual gearbox.
As mentioned above the 2.3-litre engine is both brisk and willing, whilst in sixth gear, the motorway speeds are quiet and controlled. Handling is very impressive with a firm grip that adds stability. The suspension has minor bounce, adding to the whole experience.
Lounging & dining
When you enter the motorhome you are greeted with the main lounge area, with a full offside dinette and a settee, perfect for two people to sit in.
In terms of lighting the motorhome provides a strong level of light, with four individual halogens and three larger roof-mounted dome lights. These can be found in the lounge, kitchen and the rear bedroom. On the fixed beds there comes a reading light as standard.
The Swift comes with a combi oven/grill and a three-burner gas hob, perfect for cooking with plenty of options on what you can cook. There is also a microwave for customers looking for a quick meal. The kitchen is spacious in the Swift Escape 696, coming with a cutlery drawer and plenty of floor space beneath the hob.
For sleeping in the Berth you have a 2.08 x 1.37m overcab double, twin fixed rear bunks (the upper is 1.65m x 0.76m, and the lower measures 1.62m x 0.74m and folds up to take bikes and the like) and a double – 2.08m x 1.37m – that makes up from the dinette and settee.
For washing, the washroom is a robust, all-in-one with a central shower tray and pull-round curtain.
There is a 60 litre water tank.
This is a practical motorhome which tops many holiday goers lists, its smart, stylish, a great drive and well designed.
